The Katsina State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Alhaji Ahidjo Yahaya has called on the 2020 Batch B, Steam 1B Corps Members to cultivate the culture of entrepreneurship and income generation practices.
The Coordinator, made the call while addressing Corps Members at the Opening ceremony of Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) activities in the orientation camp on Thursday 10th December, 2020
He said the scheme initiates the SAED Program to build the capacity of corps members to gain the required entrepreneurship and hands- on skills to cope with the challenges of Youth unemployment and global socio-economic down turn.
Ahidjo Yahaya, said the increasing rate of unemployment among Nigerian graduates is disturbing, hence the need for the Corps Members to renew their focus and redefine their goals and aspirations.
He said the program is a nationwide initiative targeting the Nigerian graduates mobilised for the one year national service in order to be economically active as entrepreneurs.
The NYSC boss added that, the SAED department of the scheme has created opportunities for financing Corps Members’ business proposals through many channels, in which the CBN in collaboration with commercial banks mobilise resources for Corps Members’ business financing.
According to Ahidjo, many Corps Members have already taken advantage of the NYSC/Bank of Industry Graduate Entrepreneurship Fund through expert guidance in the writing and benefit from the scheme.
Ahidjo Yahaya said 12 business skills such as Agro-Allied, Food Processing and Preservation, Automobile, Beautification, among others are available for the Corps Members.
