The Executive Chairman of Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa state, Hon. Zahraddeen Abubakar has repaired nọ fewer than a total of 155 handpump boreholes, 5 solar-powered boreholes, installed 18 public taps and reticulated water pipelines across the local government area.
Our correspondent learnt that this was part of the Chairman’s commitment to end water challenge which affects some communities of the local government.
The 5 repaired solar-powered boreholes and 18 newly installed public taps are in different categories are in Nahuce, Budinga, Matsango, Dubau and Zandam-Nagogo villages.
The repair work of the handpump boreholes was also learnt to be in different communities and villages across the 11 wards of the local government.
In another development, the Chairman had also facilitated the construction of 8 solar-powered boreholes in 8 different communities.
Also, the Chairman who paid official visit to the office of the Minister of Water Resources on September 2021, sought the intervention of the ministry in the construction of water facilities in Gwaram to help address water scarcity in the area.
