Kaduna ex-gov identifies education, wealth creation as panacea to insecurity

Former Kaduna state Governor, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero has identified lack of quality basic education and increasing spate of unemployment among youths as some of the factors militating the increasing rate of insecurity in the country.

She pointed out that when youths are duely employed and equipped with quality education most of acts of criminality with banished.

The former Governor who was speaking on a radio programme said more need to be done both by government and the citizenry in order to get it right.

Ramalan Yero who is also the Dallatun Zazzau advocated full involvement of traditional, religious and opinion leaders in issues of security to rid the society from the present menace.

“During my tenure as Governor of Kaduna state, we used patrol system whereby security operatives were not stationed in one place.

“They conducts 24 hour patrol in nooks and crannies of the state to attend to every security issue that may crop up.

“We also have others on standby who quickly respond to distress calls where need be.

Ramalan Yero however observed that security issues shall always be regarded as everybody’s concern, not just the security agents so that collectively it can be tackle before it exclate to a certain level.

He advised government to do more in terms of it’s approaches to security issues for the overall development of the country.
