End SARS: Northern Youth Assembly cautions FG against scrap, calls for reform

Following the recent dissolution of the special anti robbery squad SARS by the inspector general of police Mohammed Adamu, the Northern youth Assembly of Nigeria NYAN has call on the Nigeria police to reform and reinstate the SARS operatives in order to protect lives and property of the citizenry.

The Speaker of the northern youth assembly Ukasha Hamza Rahama, made the call during a press briefing on the recent dissolution of special anti robbery squad, which held at Bauchi State secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalist.

Hamza Rahama describe security as the backbone of any society without which no meaningful development could be achieved.

He maintained that the youth assembly is against any humiliation, harassment or intimidation of Nigerian citizens by security personnel, instead the security agents must follow the laid down rules in apprehending and prosecuting any suspect as practiced in other developing and developed countries.

Rahama added that the assembly is against the scrapping of SARS in totality but rather activities of the SARS should be reformed for effective service delivery.

In their separate remarks on the recent dissolution of the special anti robbery squad SARS, some elders in Bauchi State Alhaji Umaru Dahiru Barade and Alhaji Garba Muhammad Noma, called on the inspector general of police Muhammad Adamu to reform the unit of special anti robbery squad SARS in an effort to protect the lives and property of the citizens.

It would be recall that inspector general of police Mohammed Adamu has announced the dissolution of the special anti robbery squad in 36 state of the federation and the FCT.
