Gov. Bagudu meets farmers, reassures them of govt’s continuous support

 

Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu this Sunday visited some rice and wheat fields in Birnin Kebbi and Makera to assess ongoing cultivation by farmers in the current dry season farming.

During the visit, Bagudu interacted with male and female farmers in the fadama along Birnin Kebbi/Makera axis .

The governor exchanged views with some farmers, Abubakar Shehu (Engineer), a prominent rice farmer and Hajiya Aisha Saidu.

He informed them of the State government’s readiness to support them to enhance their production.

He advised the farmers to always avail themselves with the modern methods of farming to achieve maximum yields, devoid of fatigue and avoidable losses .

He urged the farmers to make sure that they engage agricultural extension workers before embarking on pre- farming activities, particularly planting.

The farmers thanked the Governor for his unrelenting support to farmers in the state and solicited for assistance to check encroaching erosion in some parts of the Fadama and the supply of more fertilizer.

The governor in the course of the visit also interacted with some fishermen to find out their needs and challenges.

He directed the Commissioner of Animal Health and Fisheries, Hon . Aminu Garba Dandiga to meet with the fishermen to find out the assistance they require, in order to improve the production of fish using modern innovative methods .

In another development the Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has inspected several projects being executed by his administration in Arewa and Argungu Local Government Areas of the state where he expressed satisfaction with the speed and quality of work done so far.

In Arewa Local Government, the Governor inspected Yeldu – Kare – Yeldu – spur Madanfara road projects and potable drinking water projects at Gungun Wala and adjoining villages along Kare Yeldu axis.

At Gungun Wala and Kare, Senator Bagudu, was informed that the villages are now enjoying clean drinking water as the projects had been successfully executed following his directives.

Also at Yamama, the governor interacted with farmers and assured them of providing improved seeds in view of the arid nature of the area.

Bagudu also promised to provide them with additional facilities to augment water supply in the area.

The governor pledged to replace their faulty transformer, build a mosque and look into the perennial gully erosion affecting the village as requested by the village head, Zarumman Yamama Alh. Musa Yamama, the Area Development Sole Administrator Yeldu–Arewan Gabas, Alh. Suleman Mohammed Yeldu and the Councillor representing the area, Alh. Abdullahi Usman Yeldu.

The Progressives Governors’ Forum Chairman also made a stopover at the Fulani settlement Runtuwo Tsola Shago, Argungu Local Government Area, where he was delighted with the quality of work done on the water and school projects.

He called on parents and guardians to ensure the timely enrolment and retention of their children into schools.
