The newly elected President of Entomological Society of Nigeria(ESN)
Professor Rabi’u Adamu has emphasized that research and development needs to be intensified on insects pests of crops especially the invasive news that threatened Nigerian drive to attain full food security.
Professor Adamu who made this known in his acceptance speech as a new President of the Society with a promise to work hard and collaborate with other societies and agencies to enhance the importance of Entomology to National development.
He said research effort on vectors that transmits diseases to human and livestock needs to be adequately funded for attainment of better health of the citizens
Professor Rabi’uAdamu was elected as the new President of Entomological Society of Nigeria(ESN) emerged at the Annual General Business meeting of the Society held University of Uyo.
The society is made up 1020 members drawn from Universities, Colleges Education, .Polytechnics, Federal Ministry of Health, Agriculture , Environment and Agrochemicals and allied industries
“The mission of the society is to promote the profession of Entomology, and to bring together all Entomologists working in Agriculture, Health, Environment, Agro allied Industries under one umbrella”.
The new President is from Institute for Agricultural Research , ABU , Zaria. A professor of Field crops Entomology and
was for two years term.
