Women as Role Models for Child Upbringing

By Janet Idi

Let’s start by knowing the word Discipline and what it entails.”Discipline is the process of teaching your child what type of behavior is acceptable and what type is not acceptable. In other words, discipline teaches a child to follow rules. Effective discipline uses many different tools, like positive reinforcement, modeling, and a loving and supportive family.

Sometimes, punishments are also an effective tool-but that doesn’t mean that good discipline is mostly about punishments. It sounds so straightforward, yet every parent becomes frustrated at one time or another with issues surrounding children and discipline.

We also have to know that the goal of preventative discipline is to provide proactive interventions to potential disruptive behaviors by clearly explaining to children what behaviors are and are not appropriate.

Such guidelines might include rules regarding talking, homework or language use in the classroom. A preventative discipline strategy also establishes the types of consequences that will follow a forbidden act or behavior. Preventative discipline strategies create a safe, nonconfrontational classroom atmosphere in which students feel that they understand what is to come.

Woman is man’s helpmate and partner. She sacrifices her personal pleasure and ambitions, sets standard of morality, relieves stress and strain, tension of husband, maintains peace and order in the household. Thereby creating necessary environment for her male partner to think more about the economic upliftment of the family. She is the source of inspiration to man for high endeavour and worth achievements in life.

In this regards, there is a need for household women to ensure that their children have become better in the society, by monitoring their day to day activities, it is thier primary responsibility of a women to ensure that their children have become self reliant.

If children have become Good or Bad in the society, the first to blame or Commend are their parents, and if they became good the whole community will benefit from them, and also if they became bad they will end of disturbing the whole society.

The responsibility of a parent is to help child become self-reliant, respectful, and self-controlled. Although the relatives, schools, place’s of worship, health care professionals, and others can help. But the primary responsibility for discipline rests with parents.
