Bagudu Pledges more commitment to support farmers in order to boost food production

 

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State says, his administration will consolidate on the achievement recorded in agricultural revival by sustaining necessary support to farmers to increase yields.

He was speaking at Sabla Maisamari Village in Augie Local Government, in the course of inspection visit to ascertain the progress of work on an access road in the area, from Fakon-Sarki, Sabla Maiyaki – Sabla – Maisamari Zabdo – to Bayawa.

He pledged to provide required input to farmers towards achieving the target objective of self-sufficiency in food production.

Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu said the government was also committed to the provision of basic social services to communities assuring that water and cemetery would be constructed in Sabla Maiyaki village as requested by the inhabitants.

He condoled with the family of a thirteen year old school girl, Saratu Umaru Sabla who passed away arising from leg fracture, whose treatment the Governor had earlier sponsored.

The governor prayed Allah to grant her mercy, while the parents of the girl thanked him for his magnanimity and compassion for visiting the family house to offer condolences.

The village head of Sabla Maisamari, Hakimi Umaru Sabla expressed similar appreciation to the governor for off-setting the medical bill of late Saratu, who died on Sunday and prayed Allah to reward him abundantly.

Hakimi Umaru further thanked the Governor for approving the construction of road in the area as well as provision of a mosque and water supply.

He appealed to the government to provide fertilizer to farmers with the necessary back-up for the wet season cultivation.

On his part the village head of Sabla Maiyaki, Hakimi Muhammadu commended the governor for consenting to the request of the community on the provision of basic social services and other requirement.

The governor made a stop-over at Fakon Sarki town and inspected a borehole in need of refurbishment, during which he directed the Special Adviser on Energy to effect immediate repairs.

Elsewhere the Governor visited school for special needs near Birnin Kebbi and pledged to provide necessary learning and teaching facilities to the school.

He instructed the authorities concerned to erect a fence round the school for security purposes.
