By Sani Adamu Hassan

Few days after a clash between Herders and Farmers in Zadawa, Hardawa District of Misau Local government area of Bauchi state, Governor Bala Muhammad Abdulkadir has taken steps to resolve the issue and bring lasting peace in the area.

One of the steps taken by the governor, was the constitution of a 13 man Committee under the leadership of retired Air commodore Tijjani Baba Gamawa, in order to investigate the root cause of the clash and to see the level of land encroachment in the area, which resulted to the loss of 11 lives, while many were injured.

The Governor has also suspended the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Misau Local government and his Deputy. Others suspended by the governor are the Emir of Misau, District Head of Chiroma and one village head in the area. The suspension according to the governor, was to ensure proper investigation in to the incident.

Shortly after it was inaugurated by the governor, the committee has organized a stakeholders meeting in Misau in order to receive petitions from witnesses and other people of the area, with a view to getting firsthand information about the sad development.

The Committee, has already submitted its report, with the full hope that all the recommendations made would be carefully studied and implemented by the governor in order to avert future occurrence of the ugly incident.

After receiving the report, Governor Bala Mohammed appreciated members of the committee for the good job and pledged to ensure effective implementation of their recommendations.

The governor, described peace as a bedrock of societal development, adding that, government would not relent in ensuring peace and harmony among the entire people of the state.

Bala Mohammed added that, he would ensure good governance and accountability, taking into cognizance that all forms of criminalities, especially, banditry, arm robbery and rape are connected with bad governance.

To this end, I must commend the governor for his giant effort in addressing farmers/herders clashes in not only Misau, but the entire state. This is indeed a sign of a good leader.
