Gov. Bagudu assures victims of bandits’ attack in Shanga LGA assistance

 

Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu says the state government will assist the victims of the recent bandits’ attack in Shanga Local Government of the state.

Bagudu said that assorted relief materials,including food items and other domestic needs will be distributed to all the victims, effective from today, Monday.

Gov. Bagudu disclosed this on Monday when he visited Tungar Zarumai and Bakin Turu villages in Shanga local Government Area of Yauri Emirate to sympathise with them over the recent attack by bandits.

According to the Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, ” all efforts will be geared towards alleviating the suffering of the victims.

” We are here to condole with you over the unfortunate deaths recorded as a result of the attack, while we are also commiserating with all those who were injured .

” All those who had also fled due to fears would soon be reunited with their various families.”

Bagudu also described the attacks as unfortunate and preached to the victims to regard the incident as an Act of God .

The governor vowed that efforts would be sustained to restore peace and tranquility to the affected areas, as well as other troubled parts of the state.

The Kebbi state Governor further stated that efforts were also being intensified by the state government and the security agencies to recover the abducted persons, hale and hearty.

The governor however solicited the support of all and sundry in this direction, saying,” the vigilantes and youths groups should complement the efforts of the security agencies.”

He particularly called on youths in the area to organise themselves and assist the community in providing security in collaboration with the security agencies .

‘ Make sure you involve all segment of people irrespective of tribe or religion to form security so as to complement efforts of the Vigilantes ‘, he averred.

The Emir of Yauri , Dr. Muhammad Zayyanu Abdullahi welcomed the governor and his entourage for the sympathy visit.

He described the incident as unfortunate and shocking calling on the affected victims to take it in good faith as destined by God.

The monarch added that what is needed now is to take proactive measures to forestall future occurrence.

He requested for relief assistance to the victims.

Similarly , the House of Assembly member representing Shanga , Hon Tukur Muhammad and the Chairman of Shanga local Government Area, Hon Aminu Suleiman Takware commended the governor for the visit.

They expressed delight that with the visit of the governor , additional security and relief assistance will be provided to the victims.

Some of the affected victims, Yububu Usman, Sani Noma , Alhaji Tahiru and Danjuma Hakimi all expressed happiness with the sympathy visit of the governor.

They requested for relief assistance of food items including shelter as well as deployment of more security to their village.

The Governor trekked round the affected village to sympathise with the victims in company of the Emir of Yauri Dr. Muhammad Zayyanu Abdullahi the Chief of staff Government House Birnin Kebbi, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad Argungu, Jarman Kabi, SSG, Babale Umar Yauri, Acting Head of Service Alhaji Sufyanu Garba Bena, Hon. Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Hassan Muhammad Shalla, Special Adviser on Security, rtd Major Garba Rabiu Kamba, Alhaji Abubakar Nayaya, Chairman Local Service Commission as well as officials from NEMA and SEMA .

On arrival in Shanga Local Government area, the governor was received by the Chairmen of Shanga , Yauri and Ngaski as well as their Councillors .Others were traditional leaders and politicians of the area .

The Governor, then proceeded to Yauri where he sympathised with the Emir and held a close door meeting with him.

It will be recalled that bandits on Saturday set ablazed Tungar Zarumai village as well as attacked Bakin Turu village, killed some people , carted away their animals and belongings are .
