LGA Administration: NULGE awards Ganduje, Garo for excellence in supporting LGAs

 

National Union of Local Governments Employees (NULGE) identifies governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state as the best governor in local government administration and presented him with an Award of Excellence.

Hinting the Award during a courtesy visit to the governor, Tuesday night, the National President of the union, Comrade Ambali Akeem Olatunji, said, “We are giving you an Award of Excellence as Father of Local Government Service in the country.”

During the presentation at Green Desert hotel, Kano, Wednesday, when the governor was represented by his Deputy, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, NULGE Boss reiterated that, “We are giving this Award to the governor for his immense contributions to the development of our 44 local governments.”

Appreciating governor’s pedigree in local government administration, as a former (gov Ganduje) local government Secretary and former Chairman of local government, Olatunji said, “If you want be a successful politician one should go and start from local government level.”

For his following of the footsteps of governor Ganduje in the administration of local governments, the Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs Murtala Sule Garo, was also appreciated with an Award of Excellence by NULGE National body.

The National President said, “You are really following the footsteps of our amiable governor, the worker-friendly governor, we are also appreciating your effort with an Award of Excellence.”

“It is an Award of Excellence for your support to the development of local governments in Kano state, as a mark of honour and due to your responsible replication of His Excellency’s landmark achievements by way of exemplary leadership, copied from the governor,” he said.

Adding that, they believe that, when there is effective local government system, the country would move forward.

Mr Olatunji argued further, in their appreciation to governor Ganduje’s commitment to local government administration, that, “Your love for local government service Sir, which removed the dichotomy between local government service and state service, which makes it possible for local government workers to be appointed as Permanent Secretaries, is, but, another milestone.”

In his remarks, made through his Deputy, Dr Gawuna, at the opening ceremony of their (NULGE) National Executive Council meeting, governor Ganduje commended that, “First and foremost, I would like to extend my profound gratitude on behalf of the government and good people of Kano state, to this Union for choosing the state to hold its National Executive Council meeting.

Which I believe is done based on the confidence you have in the peaceful atmosphere, friendliness and how you notice sound inter-governmental fiscal and administrative relations between the state and local governments.”
