President Buhari commissions Kano-Maiduguri dualization project section III Potiskum/Azare project

President Muhammadu Buhari has Commissioned and handed over the completed over 45 billion naira dualization of Kano-Maiduguri Road, section lll Azare-Potiskum, covering four Local Government Areas in Bauchi and Yobe States.
Speaking at the occasion held in Azare, Katagum local government area of Bauchi State, President Buhari said the road has been built to the highest quality of design and workmanship.
He said the completion of the road is part of the commitment and determination to improve the ease of doing business, create jobs opportunity and prosperity for lifting Nigerians out of poverty.
The President who was represented by the Minister of State for Industry and Investment, Ambassador Maryam Yalwaji Katagum stated that, the road is also a improve the economic status and ease of doing business.
The minister who noted that, the road is part of many roads to prosperity in order to reduced expense on travel.
The road according to her, symbolizes change in the road furniture such as the lane markings and Route Assurance signs.
President Buhari called for proper utilization of the completed the road, reiterating that, the maximum driving speed on this and other Federal Highways nationwide is one hundred km.
The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola explained that, the length of the handed over project is 106.341km comprising of 93.200km Azare-Potiskum which involves construction of additional new alignment and rehabilitation of existing one.
He said also included in the scope is the construction of 3Nos. bridges, construction of 900mm diameter precast RC pipe culverts at various locations among others.
Represented by the Director of Highways in the Ministry, Engineer Celestine Shawulu, the Minister said the handed over road represent major investment in road transport infrastructure which is a commitment of the Buhari administration as a driver for economic growth and development
Also speaking, Governor Bala Mohammed, represented by his
Deputy, Senator Baba Tela, described the project as a welcome development which is key to enhancement of economic activities in the benefiting areas.
The Governor appreciated the federal government for supporting the state in the rehabilitation of federal highways, saying that, his administration is committed to the provision of infrastructure for the advancement of the state.
The Governor was accompanied by the state commissioners of Housing and Environment Hamisu Muazu Shira and that of Works and Transport,Abdulkadir Ibrahim and other top government officials.
