SGBV: BOABAB trains CSOs, Journalists in Bauchi, advocates reporting of cases to curb the menace

 

In its efforts to reduce the menace of sexual and gender based violence in some parts of the country, A non governmental organization called BOABAB has organized a two days workshop for civil society organizations (CSO) and journalists working in Bauchi state.

The workshop focused on training the participants on the campaign against SGBV in the society , the importance of girl child education and having an educated youths in the society.

Our correspondent Firdausi Ibrahim Bakondi who was among the participants reports that the workshop was held in the hall of Chartwell hotel.

On the importance of speaking out on the domestic violence or gender based violence, a facilitator at the workshop, Dr. Zubaida Naki said exposing the perpetrators will reduce the menace in the society.

Dr. Zubaida called on parents to put more effort in educating their wards so as to minimize the problems of SGBV currently facing the country.

In their separate presentations at the workshop, Barrister Aishatu Ali, and Mrs. Ann Lawal spoke on how women can prevent themselves from domestic violence, child abuse as well as having a well educated society.

The facilitators adviced the participants to make sure they extend the knowledge acquired in the workshop to others to ensure full involvement of all the campaign against the menace in the society.

Some of the participants interviewed at the end of the workshop , Yusuf Abubakar from the Association of people with disability and Hajiya Hauwa Aliyu a journalist from Bauchi Radio Cooperation thanked the organizers of the workshop and pledged to make good use of the lesson learned.
