BSADP Collaborates Research Institute to ensure proper storage of agricultural produce

In an effort to reduce losses during storage, the Bauchi state agricultural development program BSADP in collaboration with Nigerian stored products research institute has distributed amitic storage drums to women farmers associations in Bauchi state.

The executive director of the Nigerian stored products research institute Dr. Mrs Patricia Fesu said the facilities were fabricated locally and could be used for safe storage of harvested grains.

Represented by the zonal coordinator of the agency Dr. Olaleye Oladimeji, the executive director maintained that the 75 harmatic drums which cost more than 2,000 is the first batch of the program with more to come as soon as possible.

Patricia Fesu assured the commitment of the agency in coming up with new technologies that will simplify farming activities to compliment the efforts of present administration under Muhammadu Buhari

Earlier speaking the program manager Bauchi state agricultural development program Alhaji Abubakar Ja’afaru Ilelah said the hamatic storage facilities will go a long way in reducing the post harvest losses incurred by farmers as well as reducing the inscessant use of chemicals for storage.

On his part, the commissioner Bauchi state ministry of agriculture Jidauna Tula Mbami appreciates the Nigerian stored products research institute for donating the storage drums, saying that the gesture will give the teaming farmers a sense of belonging.

Represented by the permanent secretary in the ministry Alhaji Yakubu Jibrin Abdullahi, the commissioner assured farmers in Bauchi state state that the present administration under Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad have the farmers at heart and is working very hard toward bringing solutions to many agricultural challenges in an effort to make farming business easier and more attractive.

One of the beneficiaries Marka Abbas expressed her delight, insisting that the drums will help them in their farming business.

She commended Nigerian stored products research institute and the BSADP for coming up with the program which according to her is apt.
