Kwankwaso sets up FM Radio in Kano, begins Test Transmission this week

 

A former governor of Kano State and leader of Kwankwasiyya movement, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has established a radio station in Kano and appointed a former BBC journalist, Maude Gwadabe, as the pioneer general manager.

The station, named Nasara Radio, has been granted approval by the National Broadcasting Corporation, NBC, to start test transmission this week at the frequency modulation band of 98.5 FM.

A statement by the secretary of the technical implementation committee, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa said: “Nasara Radio is designed to promote, protect and protect a responsible society through innovative programmes and news content with high value of objectivity, fairness and timeliness.

“It is a sigh of relief to have a strong team of professionals in managing the station. Dr. Maude is extremely resourceful for a 21st century media platform like Nasara Radio 98.5 FM, so I want to congratulate him for this appointment on behalf of the proprietor and the Technical Implementation Committee” the statement reads.

Mr Dawakin-Tofa therefore enjoined other radio stations in Kano to maintain a healthy competition and strict adherence to the professional code of ethics in broadcast industry.
